Olive Children Scrimmage

Stella and I arrived at Olive Children at about 10:45 AM to begin setup. We found the room we were to use and quickly folded the chairs and tables and pushed them to the side. Afterwards, we waited for Team 6669 Omega, Team 6688 Version 4.2, and Team 7864 Terrorbytes to arrive. At 11:30 AM, Jamie and Nelson arrived with the full Block Party game field. It took us about one and a half hours to unload the field from the car and set up all the pieces, but we were ready to present to the kids.
We gave them an introduction to FTC: we explained the history of FTC, the game rules, our robot, and how we built the robot. Samantha arrived, and we began the scrimmage at about 1:30 PM. However, we were unable to play a full game with all four teams because our laptop did not have enough USB ports for all the controllers. Five scrimmage matches were played, in which half of the robots flipped over battling to hang on the iron bar. Finally, at 3:30 PM, we ended the session and thanked the children and other teams for coming. We cleaned up the field, packed it away, returned the room to its original state, and left the building at 4:00 PM.
The event was mildly successful. The scrimmage was arranged well, but additional advertising for the event would have been highly beneficial. We now possess vital experience to improve our future outreach events and presentations.
