Impressive Minds Academy

For their first outreach event of the season, the team headed to Impressive Minds Academy on the morning of August 5th. After a brief introduction to the FIRST Tech Challenge (and the Cascade Effect game), FIRST Lego League, and Junior FIRST Lego League, the activities began with students building their own rubber band catapults and cork and cardboard cars. Next, the students formed teams to compete in a relay race. Every student had the opportunity to test drive the robots in an obstacle course. The students at Impressive Minds gained an idea of what robotics is like at the elementary to high school level, and the team had a lot of fun at the event!

For future events, we hope to resolve technical problems so that the students can drive both robots simultaneously. Additionally, the cardboard cork car assembly was difficult for some of the students.

Overall, the event was successful and the team will have more like it in the future!
